Installing Bubble Insulation in a metal building or pole barn

Why insulate your pole barn with reflective insulation?

Without adequate insulation, a large amount of heat will transfer in and out of your pole barn. During hot summer months when the sun is beating down on the roof, most of that heat will penetrate into the building. In the winter, any heat created inside of the building will easily escape. Installing Bubble Insulation is the best way to keep your pole barn warmer in winter and cooler in the summer.

Effective in all climates and seasons

Reflective Insulation, also known as Bubble Foil Insulation, is an effective way to combat heat gain/loss year-round. By reflecting 96% of radiant heat back to its source, the sun's ray will reflect away from your pole barn. In colder months, any heat source inside your structure will reflect inward—making the interior more comfortable while also saving on costly energy bills.

Prevent the formation of condensation in your pole barn

A common problem with steel buildings is they tend to produce moisture and frost when there's a large difference in temperature on either side of the exterior. This moisture can lead to many expensive issues down the road. Bubble Insulation not only reflects heat back to its source, it also provides a thermal break between hot and cold temperatures—reducing and sometimes eliminating the chances of moisture buildup year-round.

Pole Barn Insulation

Benefits of installing EcoFoil Reflective Bubble Insulation in your pole barn:

  • Reflects 96% of radiant heat - Find out how a radiant barrier works
  • Works in both warm and cold climates
  • Keeps large temperature differentials off of your steel panels to prevent condensation from forming on them
  • Bubble insulation is a full vapor barrier (when seams are taped) that blocks interior moisture from getting to steel panels, also preventing condensation
  • Very durable and can't be ripped or torn by hand
  • Lightweight and easy to handle & install
  • Safe to handle and requires no special clothing or breathing equipment

Pole barn or post frame buildings are typically constructed using wood framing with steel roofing and siding. Steel roofing is a highly conductive material in terms of heat transfer. EcoFoil Bubble Insulation creates a barrier that reflects 96% of the radiant heat from the sun's rays. EcoFoil's highly reflective surface provides superior protection against radiant heat and helps regulate temperatures in your post frame building year-round.

EcoFoil Bubble Insulation comes in different sized rolls and can be ordered with foil on both sides, or foil on one side and white on the other. Both finishes are equally effective. Many choose the EcoFoil White Bubble Insulation if the product will be left exposed as it gives the pole barn a clean, bright finish.

Insulating under a concrete slab in a pole barn

When building a new pole barn or post-frame building, it's always a good idea to insulate under concrete slabs with Ultra CBF Under Slab Insulation. This added layer of insulation will prevent heat gain/loss in your floor, helping to warm the floor in cold winter months.

RESULTS STILL OUT

The ECOFOIL is very resilient. It's been stepped on a couple of times by accident, without the bubbles having popped. It is wonderfully flexible and entierly simple to install. Even if you're already wired your building, the worst you'd have to do is loosen each electric box so as to fit the ECOFOIL behind it....and even that may not be required. Strongly encourage purchase of the tape they offer. It's very wide, very strong and has excellent adhesion. While not requested here, I first lined each section between studs. I allowed 2" extra, top, bottom and sides, which is where I stapled, so as NOT to create even small staple holes in the ECOFOIL facing the OSB. Only then did I install faced fiberglass. Over the top of this, I then place a second cover of ECOFOIL across the face of the studs, then the drywall. I can't imagine a better approach. Can't wait for our summer weather (central Texas), which last year gave us 53 consecutives days over 100 degrees. This year (and evermore), I'm going to laugh at those days. =)

Awesome

That’s exactly what I needed for my 17 foot windshield in my RV. I did double face it to give it more rigidity, but it’s working perfectly.
