People have been insulating underneath concrete for many years, but how effective are traditional insulation products and methods? One of the most common products used is foam sheet insulation, which can crack and break very easily under pressure. Unless an extra vapor barrier is used with it, foam insulation does not provide protection against thermal energy transfer, moisture vapor or radon. Our Under Concrete Barrier Insulation is designed to block the ground elements from seeping up from below while reflecting heat from above into your structure. Under Concrete Barrier can be used in many concrete applications such as basement floors, driveways, radiant heat floors and commercial building floors.
We have two options to choose from for Under Concrete Insulation. Read on to learn the difference between the two products:
1) Standard Under Concrete Barrier - (White / Double Bubble / Foil) This product has been used in the concrete industry for many years and consists of two layers of double bubble insulation centered between a sheet of metalized foil and a sheet of treated white poly. The white side must be installed facing up towards the concrete since it is treated to resist corrosion from curing concrete.
2) Ultra Under Concrete Barrier - (Bubble / Foil / Bubble) This new product is a PATENTED design that consists of a layer of pure aluminum centered between a layer of bubble insulation laminated to each side. This encapsulates the reflective foil sheet preventing it from being exposed to the ground or the concrete, ensuring the life and performance of the product.
